MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Caving is the activity that offers something different to everyone who tries it. From the chance to see beautiful stone sculptures as you walk through underground rivers to the thrill of exploring parts of the Earth that have never been seen by man, as you hang on a rope, kilometres below the surface. With the Combined Services Caving Association (CSCA) you have the opportunities to see all this and develop your leadership skills with friendly, like minded people.
The CSCA offers regular trips to build up your log book and experience across the UK with international expeditions to discover new caverns. For those still serving in the UK Armed Forces we also liaise closely with the Joint Service Mountain Training Centre (JSMTC) to support you attaining qualifications which match across to civilian equivalents.
Whether you are an experienced caver or want to reach out to try something different for the first time, the CSCA is the club to take you and your caving further.

WHAT DO WE DO?
The CSCA are a very passionate and driven group, with a great love of exploring the underground world. We have people of all abilities coming to experience the wonders that lay beneath our feet. As a group we have regular meets happening on weekends through out the year, were everything from a cracking caving trip to formal training, not to mention a great social side takes place.
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?
No. We have the ability to introduce beginners to caving, including the necessary equipment, leaders and instructors. If you are currently serving in the UK Armed Forces you can also apply to conduct a variety of courses under the Joint Service Adventurous Training (JSAT) scheme, this includes the beginners Caving Foundation course.
HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET?
We hold eight weekend area meets through out the year, with one of the meets as the AGM. These are held in the four main caving areas of the country, (Mendip, Wales, Derbyshire and Yorkshire).
EXPEDITIONS?
In the caving world the bulk of expeditions take place between May and September. Due to the challenges of running an overseas caving expedition we tend to run one every couple of years, this could be to mainland Europe or even further afield. This is before we even cover the civilian expeditions many of our members join.
WHY JOIN US?
Caving is not always everyone's cup of tea, meaning that it can be quite hard to find fellow cavers to share your passion with. With the CSCA you will be with fellow cavers giving you the chance to get that muddy kit (and possibly still damp) back on and get underground. We also offer structured training at meets and you can tap into the Area Representatives knowledge so you can go explore that cave you have always wanted too! We can also help you build on your skills for any courses you wish to attend in the future.
HOW TO JOIN US?
