MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Caving is the activity that offers something different to everyone who tries it. From the chance to see beautiful stone sculptures as you walk through underground rivers to the thrill of exploring parts of the Earth that have never been seen by man, as you hang on a rope, kilometres below the surface. With the Combined Services Caving Association you have the opportunities to see all this and develop your leadership skills with friendly like minded people.
The CSCA offers regular trips to build up your log book and experience across the UK with international expeditions to discover new caverns. We also liaise closely with the Joint Service Mountain Training Centre to support you attaining qualifications which match across to civilian equivalents.
Whether you are an experienced caver or want to reach out to try something different for the first time, the CSCA is the club to take you and your caving further.

WHAT DO WE DO?
The Combined Services Caving Association (CSCA) are a very passionate and driven group, with a great love of exploring the underground world. We have people of all abilities coming to experience the wonders that lay beneath our feet. As a group we have regular meets happening on weekends through out the year, were everything from a cracking caving trip to formal training, not to mention a great social side takes place.
DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?
You do not require any experience to attend your JS Caving Foundation course, as either Distributed Training or from JSMTC Ripon. The CSCA also welcomes people of all abilities, from novice cavers, right thought to top end instructors.
HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET?
We hold eight weekend area meets through out the year, with one of the meets as the AGM. These are held in the four main caving areas of the country, (Mendip, Wales, Derbyshire and Yorkshire).
EXPEDITIONS?
In the caving world the bulk of expeditions take place between May and September. Due to the challenges of running an overseas caving expedition we tend to run one every couple of years, this could be to mainland Europe or even further afield. This is before we even cover the civilian expeditions many of our members join.
WHY JOIN US?
Caving is not always everyones cup of tea, meaning that it can be quite hard to find fellow cavers to share our passion with. In the CSCA you will be with those fellow cavers, giving you the chance to get that muddy kit (and possibly still damp) back on and get underground. Along with this, structured training is offered at meets, you can tap into the area representatives knowledge, maybe explore a cave you have always wanted too, build on your skills for any courses you wish to attend and not to mention a great open door to the civilian caving world.
